On Sunday I went out to shoot a mountain bike race on a whim. I saw a tweet from another cyclist in town and didn't have any other plans. I unfortunately didn't plan the whole race out that well and ended up hiking through the woods for at least 5 miles (it felt close to 8). I won't do that again, next time a trail-map is going on the checklist.
