Just for Kicks

Fall Feet

When I'm out shooting I'm serious about my work, but I also like to joke around and have some fun. One day a few years ago I was at an assignment and I looked down and the carpet had crazy patterns and I just point my camera down and took a picture of my feet. Now I do this regularly. It's just for fun. Also, it was pointed out to me by a student at Christiansburg High that I wear the same shoes every day. This is a true statement and I also buy the same pair of shoes in the same color when each pair dies.

Portraits

Lately there seems to be a strong emphasis on seeing a face. Images without faces are usually canned. I didn't shoot this specifically to not have a face, but when I got there I saw what he was wearing and immediately knew what I wanted to do. Caption: Vincent Howard's sister was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2006 and his cousin was recently shot and killed when with some friends. (I was trying to convey a moody feel to the situation)
